My information on Tientsin silver and currency negotiations

is incomplete and in some respects a month out of date. In view of the importance of this question and the fact that I am

continually being consulted by the Chinese Government I request

that I may be kept more closely informed. In the absence of such

information it is most difficult for me to assist from Chinese

side in arriving at a mutually satisfactory solution.
